Week 42 in LA--Transfers

I am staying in the Wilshire Ward, I am becoming Senior Companion and my new companion is Elder Prellwitz. I am doing a little better, I have received many emails and I am seeing the counselor today.  I can get through what I'm dealing with easily because I have a lot of help. Elder Prellwitz has been out for a little but not long. I don't know where he is from.

More pictures, this week there was a baptism so we took a lot of photos afterwards, the person who got baptized wasn't there for these pictures. Tell everyone I am doing a little better and that I am busy this p day so that's why I didn't send a mass email.

Week 41 in LA--Sadly, Nothing This Week But A Funny Story From Elder Burgon

On Monday, Zach sent a very short email to his dad and I only stating that he is still struggling and that he wouldn't be sending an email. I HATE that the actions of one person can cause such a tail-spin of another. I HATE that I can't be there to help him, to comfort him, to support him. I'm glad that there are people there to help him though. My heart is broken, my mind is not at ease, I physically hurt for and with him. I would send out another plea to all of his family and friends to PLEASE email him with encouraging words, quotes, stories whatever you can that will uplift him and let him know he has tons of support and love at home. zcox@myldsmail.net

One of the Elder's from his MTC district, Elder Burgon, wrote home about Zach this week. He explained in more detail what happened when Zach got sick in the car. I got permission from Elder Burgon's mom to share that story here on the blog. So, here is what happened in Elder Burgon's words:

"Ok here is a fun mission story for ya. I was on exchanges with Elder Cox who was in my MTC district and he is now serving in my first area so I was pretty excited! On the exchange we were in his car driving around and then he pulled over and said, "Hey I've got a bad headache and I'm not feeling so great. Do you think you could drive?" I said yeah and hopped in the driver seat and we took off again. We drove for a few more minutes and I thought Elder Cox was falling asleep because out of the corner of my eye I could see his head nodding. Then I looked over and realized that he wasn't falling asleep but he was doing everything possible to hold in an explosive barf. He reached to open the door but too little too late. Blahhhhhhh. All of the sudden the flood gates opened and throw up filled the floor of the car and completely soaked Elder Cox's lap. He looked over and said "well that's embarr- blahhhhhhh"... round 2... he cracked a smile and said, "Well, at least I feel better now!" I was dying! Both from the smell and from Elder Cox joking about it and having a good attitude about the whole thing. We quickly drove to the nearest self serve car wash and sprayed him off with the power washer the best we could. The looks we got were priceless."

Week 40 in LA--Crazy FUN

Hello Everyone!!!

This week was crazy, but fun. Sooooo, lets get going.

Monday we had a good chill p day

Tuesday we had temple day and we had it late so we were there all day.

Wednesday we had correlation and just a bunch of proselighting.

Thursday we had a crazy day went on exchanges and splits. We had to clean our car and it was a long day. (Side note--they had to clean their car because Zach got sick--stomach bug sick and he threw up all over himself and the car. Poor guy.)

Friday we had weekly planning and we got things ready for Saturday.

Saturday was the best day of the week. We got to go to an LA Dodgers game! So we got on the train then a bus and finally got there.  We got to sit high up, but the game was really good. It was a good way to relieve stress. Elder Ashby and I had super fun.

Sunday we had a boring day, hahahaha.

Sorry it's short due to time.

Week 38 in LA--My New Happy Place is the Church Building

So this week we had a focus on getting history on the church building we attend. We got some good information and I am excited to talk about it with people.

Monday we went to the Hollywood walk of fame, we walked around and saw some of the stars, there were a lot of people there. I also saw a sciencetology building and they talked with us on the street for a couple of seconds before they read our name tags.

Tuesday we talked with a member in the ward who has been here 50 years, we asked him about the church building and we got some good facts. Like that the building was built in 1929 with the help of the members. It was originally built to be a tabernacle, like the one on temple square, the building was built before the Los Angeles Temple so it was the church's statement to the community that we are here to stay. It is made completely out of concrete and was painted white later. I have a bunch of other cool facts but I won't bore you with all of them this week. After we got all that info we had a lesson with a Less Active Sister and then we gave a chapel tour to our new investigator Clifford.

Wednesday we had ward correlation and we had to do a split because our area had two dinners at the same time, I went to a Less actvies home while Elder Ashby went to the Bishops home. We then all rushed back to the church to have a ward correlation meeting.

Thursday we had district meeting and we had to leave a little early to help a member move a mattress to his home. He was really happy about it, answer were happy to help him as he is older. We then just went proselighting and had fun.

Friday we weekly planned and we discussed about the area, we also did some proselighting and Elder Ashby and to do some stuff at the church so that was Friday.

Saturday we got to have dinner with a wonderful family, the food was really good and we were laughing the whole time, we had dinner with the other elders there so it was a hoot.

Sunday we had a amazing time at church and we got blessings to help our area from our bishop. He used his keys and we felt the spirit guide us on where we needed to work. We had a BBQ with some members in the ward and we just had a fun time laughing and talking.

Thanks for reading,

Week 37 in LA--My Week For You

Hey everyone! My week has been full of fun and some good times.

On Monday, Elder Yi and Siepel and I went to a place called the grove and had lunch, it was good. We then went to Griffith park and hammocked for a while and then had Korean BBQ (한국어). I am being taught Korean by the elders I share an apartment with. 😂

On Tuesday Elder Yi went to South Bay and me and Elder Siepel went and picked up Elder Ashby and we then drove Elder Siepel to his new trainer meeting. We then went shopping and dropped Elder Ashby's stuff off and we went proselighting and met some cool people.

Wednesday we had ward correlation and had a great discussion about how to help the ward.

Thursday we had just a regular day going and knocking doors and talking with people.

Friday we did the same thing as Thursday

Saturday we went and helped paint a school, and we then ended the night with tacos.

Sunday we had church and there were super fluffy service dogs there--they were really cute.

That's my week I hope you enjoyed it.

Love,

Week 36 in LA--Hey!

Hey so I am staying in Wilshire Ward and my new companion is Elder Ashby. He is super cool and goes home after this transfer. Elder Rawlings also trained him so that's pretty cool. I am doing great and everything is good. I will send some pictures later. I am not feeling like doing a weekly this week but I will do one next week.
