Week 49 in LA--Welcome to the BIG CLAM

Hello Friends,

This week was really busy and pretty fun all at the same time. So........

On Monday we were running around getting ready for transfers. It was so much stuff to do that we forgot to email till like 30 minutes till the cut off, haha.

Tuesday was transfer day so we drove to the Westwood building (behind the Temple) and I dropped off Elder Prellwitz and picked up Elder Guo, he is a funny guy from China. He is still learning English so I feel like an English teacher everyday helping him.

Wednesday we ran around we had a couple of lessons and we worked the area and had a meeting all in the same day.

Thursday we had more lessons and we talked with a bunch of people, our area is huge so we have a lot of people to visit.

Friday we had a long weekly planning session trying to combine two areas into one, then we had more lessons.

Saturday we had to take our car to get fixed and it took 5 hours πŸ˜₯πŸ˜₯😣. After that we had a good lesson with a recent convert and a good member dinner.

Sunday we went to church, then we taught a lesson had dinner and a FHE all back to back. Then we went to a wonderful VC (visitors center) fireside with another recent convert. Life here is going good and I am having a great time.

I (mom) am going to include a little bit of his email home to me:

I am doing well, this week was really good. Elder Guo is from China. He is really funny and always asks me about English, but I suck at spelling so it's hard sometimes. πŸ˜‚

Anyway, I now cover the entire Wilshire Ward which is HUGE. We are working with a lot of people now and the work is going great. Life is going quick on this end, I remember last year like it was yesterday. Thanks for taking such good care of me. I am doing better I don't feel much depression anymore. I'm surrounded by good people to help me. Thanks for everything, God bless. Love you.

There were several pictures and videos posted on Facebook that Zach was tagged in. I (mom) contacted the two people who posted and asked for permission to include them here. They were both so nice and gave me permission as well as sent me many more pictures. I am so grateful for them!!

Week 48 in LA--Hey Everybody

It's transfer week again! But before I talk about that, I'll talk about what has been happening.

So, we have been working really hard and not seeing too much success. I am not leaving but I now cover the whole ward with Elder Guo.  That's all I have time for. πŸ˜‰

Pictures:
1--I (mom) got this from a lady and her husband (who is featured in the picture) that were visiting California from Utah and attended the ward Zach covers.  I LOVE random text pictures!!
2-4--I (mom) am guessing this is his district. When I enlarged the photos, I was able to see that his new companion, Elder Guo is the really short Elder. Other than that I have no idea what is going on in the sequence of pictures but at least he sent some. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰

Week 46 in LA--Hello!

Zach didn't send a weekly email this week but this is what he sent me (mom):

I am doing great. This week was super boring so I won't be sending a weekly this week because there won't be much but I will send pictures. Life here is cool, we have seen a lot of hot days and I am going hard proselyting. I don't think I've ever sweated so much in my life until being here in this heat. Thanks for the concern, right now I don't think I need anything. Maybe like a couple more short sleeve shirts since I blow through them super fast. Love you have fun at all the cool concerts.

I (mom) asked him to tell me a little about his companion and here is what I got: Transfers are the first week of August.  My companion is from Wisconsin. He is nerdy--he likes dungeons and dragons Minecraft and such. We get along real well.

I (mom) also asked him about packages he's received and he got one from his grandparents and one from someone anonymous (I know who sent it but they wanted to remain anonymous). He was very grateful for both of them!

Week 45 in LA--A Pretty Good Week

Hello Everyone. (In his email just to me he said, "I am doing a lot better. My companion Elder Prellwitz is a really funny guy so it helps with my mood. Thanks for the email (the only one I got besides grandma)".

So on Monday we we went to the holocaust museum and it was pretty fun.

Tuesday we had the opportunity to help teach an English class for the Korean Elders who had interviews that day. It was super awkward as we didn't speak Korean and they barely spoke English. πŸ˜…

Wednesday we went and had a good lesson with a member in Dunkin Donuts as it has A/C. It has been so hot up here in the middle of LA so air conditioning has become a great blessing. (In his email just to me he said, "It's super hot over here, I have to put on 100+ spf sunscreen because of the high UV scale. But I sweat buckets while I'm out proselyting, I'm thinking about getting an big water bottle that is insulated so I can have cold water.")

Thursday we had district meeting and we set up exchanges for the following night.

Friday we visited some people after weekly planning and then we helped the Framptons move furniture again.

Saturday we went on exchanges and we had a good time. I got to go to the temple with Matthew a recent convert. It was really a great experience.

Sunday we had a visiting general authority and he talked really well about how to be good member missionaries so that is good.

Well have a good week.

Week 44 in LA--Hello Everyone

Hello how are you? This week went pretty good.

On Monday we went to little Tokyo again. We walked around in the hot sun but we had a lot of fun. We then came back and did some more proselyting.

Tuesday we helped the senior couple over housing move things into our garage for like a couple of hours. We then had studies and then we went out and nothing really came of that. :/

Wednesday was the 4th of July and we had to be in 6 so we sat around and then watched fireworks all night it was pretty fun but I got a little homesick at the end.

Thursday we had a pretty good district meeting and we worked and hung up flyers for the chapel tours.

Friday we weekly planned inside when it was 102° outside and like almost 70% humidity. We had to go pick up some other Elders because their tire on one of the bikes melted and that was pretty crazy to hear πŸ˜₯.

Saturday we did service like all day. We first went to a food bank, then we helped the senior missionaries again (they call almost daily) then we had an appointment with the ward Relief Society president, then we came back changed and helped a Russian family move in by moving furniture and then building the furniture because they had just flown in that day. We got 2 dinner appointments though so that helped a lot with the work we did. (IT WAS ALSO 102 AND HIGH HUMIDITY).

Sunday we had a nice relaxing day of proselyting and high heat.

Today we visited the holocaust museum again with Sisters in our district it was quite fun.

Have a great week!

Elder Cox

Week 43 in LA--Hello There!

Hello everyone, I am very sorry I haven't emailed any of you for the past couple of weeks. But I am doing well and I will give you a good weekly this week.

So on Monday we got Elder Ashby ready to leave and I got ready the area.

Tuesday I got Elder Prellwitz, I am now senior companion, we then went shopping and let elder Prellwitz get comfortable. Then we had some fun prostelighting.

Wednesday we had a good meeting with the ward about how to help the Ward with missionary work.

Thursay we had district meeting and it was a slow day.

Friday we did weekly planning and worked on some other boring things.

Saturday we helped do service most the day then we had an awesome dinner/lesson at El Coyote a nice restraunt.

Sunday we had a random guy come to church and he was actually interested. We then had a good member dinner.

That's my week. See you soon
